CedarWorks announces winner of its "Play is Beautiful" Photo Contest

Mom of four wins for best photo showing kids at play

CedarWorks Playsets announced that Hillary Crossman Pennell is the winner of their 2019 "Play is Beautiful" Photo Contest for her photo, "Mud Puddle" featuring her two oldest children.

The contest ran on social media from August 21 to September 20. Parents were encouraged to post their best photos of their children in a "Play is Beautiful" moment. The winner of the best photo as chosen by a panel of judges from within CedarWorks is entitled to any set from CedarWorks Frolic line of playsets for a value up to $5000.

CedarWorks received nearly 700 entries posted on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The winner was chosen for its composition and ability to capture a dynamic moment of play: two boys joyfully jumping in a mud puddle.

"We felt like everything about the photo just really caught the whole essence of our tagline, ‘Play is Beautiful’," explained Kristin Sidwell, Marketing and Communications Coordinator for CedarWorks. "The boys expressions, their colorful raincoats, the way the water splashes around them - anyone can remember what it felt like to be a kid playing in the rain when you see that photo."

Of her win, Pennell said, "We will have years of fun ahead of us filled with some pretty special memories - which makes this feel like much more than "a prize." It is an incredible gift for my entire family!"
