CedarWorks will celebrate spring by teaming up with Stephen Gleasner for its Art of Play Giveaway . During the month of May, CedarWorks customers who request a quote by calling a Design Expert at 800 - 462 - 3327 or design their own playset online at https://www.cedarworks.com/design will be entered in to win a stunning custom bowl or mug hand crafted by Stephen from upcycled CedarWorks scrap.
Also known as the "plywood guy from Maine", Stephen Gleasner is a published author and artist / turner with over 25 years’ experience in woodworking . Stephen is the master of upcycling or taking nothing and making it look like a true piece of art . His inspiration lies in items that have long since been disposed of or forgotten . Amongst the rubble, Stephen and CedarWorks have formed an unlikely partnership .
By turning, polishing, and color changing Cedarworks Rhapsody plywood scrap, Stephen managed to bring it back to life . The result is one of a kind Baltic Birch plywood bowls and mugs that look more like glass than wood . His incredible designs have been featured in "Wood Art Today" by Donna Meilach (Schiffer Publishing, 2003) and "500 Wood Bowls"(Lark Books, 2004), as well as in a variety of periodicals, including "The Robb Report" and "Luxury Living" as well as featured in a full segment on the "Made in Maine" television show. Stephen is currently a faculty member for the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockland, Maine.
"We are very pleased to partner with Stephen Gleasner for our Art of Play Giveaway", stated Barrett Brown, CedarWorks company president. "Stephen has helped CedarWorks by reducing the cost of disposal of our scrap wood and has in turn created magnificent pieces of fine art, some of which will be a part of our giveaway in May", added Brown.
